SPCI 2002: Chemical- and process providers rebuild chlorinedioxide process in Finland

Three Finnish chemical providers and a Canadian process provider have joined forces to rebuild Sunila pulp mill's chlorine dioxide facility in Kotka, Finland. The turnkey project brought together the know-how and resources of the biggest chemicals providers in Finland and chlorine dioxide technology process experts. The chlorine dioxide facility at the Sunila pulp mill was nearly two decades old and has been scheduled to switch to a new process. In the joint rebuilding project, Finnish Chemicals business unit Finnchem Europe will provide the sodium chlorate, Finnish Peroxides will provide the hydrogen peroxide and Kemira will deliver the sulphuric acid. Sterling Pulp Chemicals will provide the know-how required for the modification and management of the process. The overall responsibility for the project lies with Finnchem Europe." This is the first time that suppliers truly combine forces in a project of this scale," says Finnchem Europe's Director, Mr Jarmo Savolainen."(SPCI News)
