Germany: New decor PM going to Kehl

Koehler is building a new speciality paper machine at its mill in Kehl, southwestern Germany. The line will have a design capacity of 180 tpd of resin-impregnated decorative paper, and is scheduled to come on stream September 2000.Although the design of the PM is based on fast, wide, modern paper machines, the nature of the paper produced means that the unit, to be supplied by Voith Sulzer, will be relatively narrow at 2.3 m. As well as the whole PM, from headbox to reel, Voith Sulzer will also deliver the main parts of the stock-preparation and approach-flow systems and a Twister reel-wrapping machine. The new machine will be built on a new site parallel to the mill's PM 1, a carbonless-copy and thermal paper machine built in 1985 by Voith.
