USA: Deferiet sell-off is agreed
Champion International has agreed the sale of its Deferiet, New York mill, which currently produces some 200,000 tpy of coated and uncoated mechanical, supercalendered, and coated woodfree specialty papers for the publishing and wholesale distribution industry. The Deferiet Paper Company (newly formed as a subsidiary of Crabar Paper & Allied Products) will take over the mill, in a deal due for completion by the end of this month.David Paulus, a former officer of German specialty papermaker, Felix Schoeller, and who was also president of Felix Schoeller's US papermaking operations, will become the president of The Deferiet Paper Company. Meanwhile, Champion recently completed the sell-off of its pulp, paper and bleached board mill in Canton, North Carolina, to Blue Ridge Paper Products (BRPP).(Papernews)
